David King-Taylor (better known as DKT) has been a Health and Safety Advisor specialising in film, television, events and entertainment for the past 18 years.
David is a Chartered Member of the Institute of Occupational Safety & Health. He has made a significant contribution to the development of industry safety and training standards, in particular through his involvement with key industry groups. He was Chair of the Safety Advisors Association to Film & Television & Entertainment (SAFTE), and an inaugural member of both the HSE's Broadcast Joint Advisory Committee and the SFX Grading Committee.
Before going freelance in the mid 90's David was the Safety Development Manager with London Weekend Television.
David's approach to H&S is very pro-active and he usually gets involved very early in projects. Working with a Production Company at the early stages provides the Client with useful information required by Broadcasters and Film Producers in respect of budgets, locations, competent suppliers and Contractors.
Writing and vetting Risk Assessments, liaising with Production Teams, Directors and Associate Producers, running briefing sessions, telephone, email and conference calls are all examples of David's pro-active approach that takes the mystique and officialdom out of H&S in film and programme making.
